On April 27, 2004, I received word that Channel Logistics, a Camden-based high-tech company, has received a $1.9 million competitive contract from the federal government's Transportation Security Administration. This contract, which will create 10 new jobs, is an excellent opportunity for Camden City and our district, and is a win-win situation for everyone. This contract, in which Channel Logistics will help the federal government track vessels on our waterways, will help put more people to work, will strengthen our homeland security, and serves as further proof that Camden has become a leader in the high-tech security and defense industry.
Channel Logistics prepared an outstanding bid and has built a record of accomplishment, both of which allowed them to prevail in the highly competitive contract selection process. I was also pleased to help Channel Logistics contact the Transportation Security Administration and to offer my support for Channel Logistics throughout the process. Channel Logistics' success also validates the vision I and many other officials had in creating the Applied Communications and Information Networking Program (ACIN), a high tech research and development center in Camden City. ACIN provides critical support and resources for member companies such as Channel Logistics and helps bring tremendous opportunities to Camden and our region. I am extremely pleased with the results we have achieved so far, and I look forward to helping additional Camden companies create opportunities for themselves, Camden City, and our district.
