REP. ANDREWS REMEMBERS MRS. CORETTA SCOTT KING
I grieve with all Americans upon the passing of civil rights leader Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Since the beginning of the civil rights movement, Mrs. King championed a vision of the United States as a colorblind nation. She shared a belief in non-violent social change along with her husband, the slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, and spearheaded this righteous cause following his death.
Much has been achieved since the 1960’s but we must continue to work towards the peaceful and just society which Mrs. King championed. I will continue my work in Congress to fulfill our founding fathers’ promise of equality and justice for all. I ask that all Americans reflect on Mrs. King’s legacy and embody the ideals she fought for. Together we can make her dream our children’s reality.
