REP. ANDREWS SECURES $3,095,000 FOR LOW INCOME HOUSING

I am pleased to announce the award of $3,095,000 in grants for low income housing from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. These funds will provide new housing opportunities for low income residents and seniors in the First Congressional District of New Jersey. A total of three-hundred and fifty new apartments and houses will be made available to many New Jersey families who struggle to find affordable housing.

The funded projects include the River Road Affordable Housing Site, Arthur’s Court III development, Baldwin’s Run Senior project, and the Cooper Plaza project in Camden. The Harvest Senior Housing apartment building in Lindenwold has also been awarded funding. Homeownership classes will be provided to Arthur’s Court III residents to help them learn responsibilities such as household budgeting and energy conservation as they transition from renting to owning their own homes. Successful participants will earn a down payment towards the purchase of their new home.

All citizens, including low income and fixed income seniors, deserve a proper home for their families, and I will continue my efforts to ensure that adequate housing is available for all New Jersey families.
