Alabama House Delegation Letter on Energy Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C.  -  Members of Alabama’s House Delegation announced that they have sent a bipartisan letter describing the “negative impact” that proposed cap and trade legislation would have on energy prices and on the fragile state and national economy.

All seven members of the delegation signed a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee expressing concerns about the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACESA), which is being marked up this week.

“The citizens of Alabama and our nation would be faced with large increases in energy prices due to the carbon cap and trade provisions of ACESA,” the letter stated.

The letter was signed by Congressman Spencer Bachus, who is senior member of the delegation, and Representatives Robert Aderholt, Jo Bonner, Bobby Bright, Artur Davis, Parker Griffith and Mike Rogers.
