Speaker J. Dennis Hastert today appointed Congressman Phil Gingrey to the influential House Rules Committee. The House Rules Committee is considered to be the most powerful committee on Capitol Hill. Every single bill considered by the House must first pass through the committee. "Congressman Gingrey has proven himself an active and effective member of Congress,” said Speaker Hastert. “I've enjoyed working with him on a number of issues over the past two years, and I'm excited to welcome him to the Rules Committee. I know Dr. Gingrey will be a valuable asset to my leadership team, and will continue to be a strong advocate for his constituents back in Gingrey, in his second term in Congress, ascends to this position at the request of Speaker Hastert. “I’m truly honored by my appointment,” Gingrey said. “Serving on the Rules Committee will help me make sure good legislation is being passed by Congress in a timely manner.
