Washington, D.C.— Today, a U.S. District Court Judge in San Francisco struck down the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 as unconstitutional. Continuing his strong support of the ban, Iowa Congressman Steve King today issued the following statement:
“I am deeply disappointed in today’s ruling by a San Francisco judge. It looks like Nancy Pelosi isn’t the only one out there who needs a muzzle. Partial birth abortion is a brutal procedure, and the fact that a California court is allowing it to continue is unfathomable.
“Three hundred and forty-five Representatives and Senators voted to outlaw this gruesome and inhumane procedure, which amounts to infanticide. One district court judge should not substitute her opinion for the reasoned judgment of those elected by the people.
“Today's decision reinforces what so many people have been saying: our judiciary is in serious and immediate need of reform!”
