  • The U.S. House met at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business. Debated and voted on the Conference Report to H.R. 2997, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.  Included in the legislation was an increase in funding, for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), a monthly food delivery service which provides nutritious meals to nearly half a million people across the country.
  • Attended Meeting of Democratic Members of the House to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Attended Meeting with Ways and Means Democrats to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Joined colleagues at a press conference to unveil a letter signed by 157 members of the House Democratic Caucus opposing a Senate Finance Committee proposal to tax so-called “high-cost” health care benefit plans because the Joint Committee on Taxation says the proposed Senate Finance Committee tax would hit approximately 15% of all employer-provided plans in the first year.  By the seventh year, it would hit nearly 40% of plans.

  • The U.S. House met at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business.  Debated and voted on the Conference Report to H.R. 2647, the National Defense Authorization Act.  The chief policy bill for the Department of Defense, the measure supports our troops and their families, provides military personnel with a significant pay raise and improves support for military families.
  • Attended Meeting of Democratic Members of the House to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Attended Income Security and Family Support Subcommittee Hearing on the response of “safety net” programs during the recession.
  • Met with Vice Ministers of Trade with the Inter-American Development Bank to discuss trade issues.
  • Attended Meeting with Ways and Means Democrats to discuss health care reform legislation.
  • Attended Classified Briefing with Administration Official on Afghanistan and Pakistan.
