- The U.S. House met at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business. Debated and voted on several pieces of legislation including H.R. 3639, the Expedited CARD Reform for Consumers Act, which prevents credit card companies from instituting unfair practices by moving forward the effective date for previously passed reforms.
- Met with Peru's Ambassador to the U.S. to discuss Peru’s efforts to implement its environmental and labor obligations under the free trade agreement.

- The U.S. House met at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business. Debated and voted on several pieces of legislation including the Senate Amendments to H.R. 3458, Unemployment Compensation Extension Act, which extends unemployment insurance up to 20 weeks for jobless workers who have exhausted their previous extensions. Additionally, the legislation extends and expands the availability of the homebuyer tax credit and provides tax relief for businesses hard hit by the recession
- Met with American Benefits Council to discuss pension legislation.
- Met with scholars from the Carnegie Endowment to discuss China's reaction to the financial crisis.

- The U.S. House met at 9:00 a.m. for legislative business. Debated and voted on several bills including H.R. 2868, the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Act of 2009, which establishes risk-based and reasonable security standards for the nation’s chemical plants and drinking water and wastewater facilities to guard these facilities and the public against a terrorist attack.
- Met with the Deputy United States Trade Representative to discuss trade issues and the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit.
- Spoke with Kelly Services CEO to discuss health care reform legislation.
