Transportation Project Requests for FY2010
 

The current legislation that funds the federal transportation system is due for reauthorization this year.  Members of Congress are given the opportunity to seek direct funding for much-needed transportation projects within our districts.  My office works with local communities, county road commissions, and regional transit organizations to determine high priority road and transit needs.  Below are the project requests my office asked to be included in the surface transportation reauthorization.

 
Road Projects:

  • Construct a non-motorized trail along Gratiot Avenue from Cass Avenue in Mount Clemens to Metropolitan Parkway in Clinton Township: $660,000
  •  
  • Reconstruct Common Road from Groesbeck to Utica in Roseville: $1,120,000
  •  
  • Reconstruct Coolidge Highway from Ten Mile to Eleven Mile in Huntington Woods: $1,883,046
  •  
  • Reconstruct and widen Dodge Park Road from Metropolitan Parkway to Utica Road in Sterling Heights: $5,680,000

  • Reconstruct Evergreen Road from John Lodge Freeway (M-10) to I-696 as a four-lane boulevard: $5,450,000

  • Reconstruct Kelly Road from Toepfer Road to Nine Mile Road in Eastpointe: $1,400,000

  • Reconstruct Wyoming Road and widen into a four-lane boulevard from 8 Mile Road to Capital Street in Royal Oak Township: $800,000

  • Rehabilitate Eleven Mile from Dequindre to the I-75 Service Drive in Madison Heights: $2,193,004

  • Rehabilitate Hoover Road from Ten Mile Road to I-696 in Warren: $1,080,000

  • Rehabilitate Lawrence Avenue from Eleven Mile Road to Wood Street in Center Line: $451,000

  • Rehabilitate Sherwood Avenue within the limits of the City of Center Line: $284,000

  • Rehabilitate Stephens Road from Little Mack Avenue to I-94 in St. Clair Shores: $600,000

  • Road widening and curb and gutter replacements of Harper Avenue from 15 Mile Road to Crocker Boulevard in Clinton Township: $9,600,000

Transit Projects:

  • Acquire and construct transit centers and park-and-ride facilities in Southeast Michigan for the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART): $8,000,000

  • Project authorization for a rapid transit corridor on Gratiot Avenue from Woodward Avenue to M-59, including alternatives analysis, environmental review, design, and engineering: $2,800,000
  •  
  • Project authorization for a rapid transit corridor on M-59 from Gratiot Avenue to Telegraph, including alternatives analysis, environmental review, design, and engineering: $2,800,000
  •  
  • Project authorization for a rapid transit corridor on Woodward Avenue from 8 Mile to M-59, including alternatives analysis, environmental review, design, and engineering: $2,800,000
  •  
  • Replace existing buses with hybrid-electric fuel buses and purchase supporting technology for the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART): $24,670,877
