PATERSON—U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) today announced that New Jersey communities will receive over $75 million in funding through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to for projects that will reduce total energy use and fossil fuel emissions and improve energy efficiency nationwide. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program will distribute formula-based funds to states, counties and municipalities for conservation projects.
“This funding will put people to work developing and installing new technology that will make America’s public, residential and commercials buildings more energy efficient,” stated Pascrell. “In New Jersey this funding represents an opportunity to reduce fossil fuel emissions and traffic on our congested roadways by promoting transportation alternatives and modernizing aging traffic signals and street lighting in an energy efficient manner. This common sense investment in America’s energy infrastructure will benefit New Jersey’s environmental wellbeing and grow the economy to help us excel into the 21st century.”
Seven municipalities in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District were awarded a total of approximately $3.7 million in grant funding.
