Higgins Reminds Residents of Rebate Opportunity on Appliance Purchases
‘Great Appliance Swap Out’ Starts Next Week
Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) is reminding residents about an opportunity to save money on appliance purchases starting next week. Between February 12th and 21st local consumers will be able to receive rebates between $50 and $550 for qualifying Energy Star refrigerator, clothes washer, freezer and dishwasher purchases.
“With this program consumers save again and again – first with the rebate and later in their monthly energy and water bills,” said Congressman Higgins. “In addition to helping working families save money, the “Swap Out” creates demand to create and retain jobs for those who sell, make and deliver appliances and associated components.”
New York was awarded $18.7 million from the U.S. Department of Energy through the Recovery Act to provide cash rebates to New York residents who purchase high-efficiency appliances. Generally, under the “Great Appliance Swap Out” program customers purchasing qualifying energy efficient appliances
individually or as a bundle would be eligible for a rebate.
