Statement By Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27):
“Today it was announced that Cobham, the parent company of Carleton Technologies in Orchard Park, has been awarded a significant contract with the United States Army. Under the agreement of the company will receive up to $110 million over the next 5 years, for work completed right here in Western New York, to supply the military with their Microclimate Cooling Systems.
In addition to providing our service men and women with this state-of-the art equipment that keep our military safe, healthy and comfortable, this defense contract will provide work for the approximately 300 residents employed at the local unit.
The technology developed by Cobham, a company employing 12,000 people worldwide, plays an essential role in our national security efforts. Carleton has a rich 50-year history in Western New York and we look forward to continued cutting edge equipment production by our local skilled workforce for decades to come.”
