Below is a statement from Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) on today’s announcement that President Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize:
"The announcement this morning awarding President Obama with the Nobel Peace Prize recognizes that a new era of American diplomacy -- one committed to multilateralism, cooperation, strength, and the restoration of U.S. relations with the world -- has been ushered in.
Congratulations to President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton and all of those involved for their work to reduce nuclear arms, reach out to the Muslim world and encourage cooperative solutions that will make America and world safer.
As Americans, we should take great pride and encouragement that our country is regaining its world standing, providing some hope for our economic and national security future."
