WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), says revelations from former Bush counterterrorism coordinator Richard Clarke, requires Congress to take an in depth look into the events surrounding 9/11. Clarke, a former White House terrorism adviser accused President Bush of failing to act on threats from al Qaeda despite repeated warnings prior to September 11th.
“Clarke’s statement gives rise to the need for greater congressional oversight,” said Congressman Fattah. “The time is now for the Republican leadership to put the security of the country above the rhetoric of politics and provide the American people with clear and concise answers to what led to the horrific events of September 11th.”
As Clarke prepares to testify publicly before the 9/11 Commission this week, Fattah renews his call for President Bush, Vice President Cheney, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, former President Clinton, and former Vice President Gore to do the same. |
