| WASHINGTON, DC -- Responding to President Bush’s announcement to send humans back to the moon as early as 2015 and eventually to Mars, Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) said, “American’s are more interested in landing jobs than landing on the moon.”
Congressman Fattah believes money for the $12 billion initiative could be better spent on what Americans are truly concerned about jobs, healthcare and education.
The numbers tell the story according to Fattah. “America struggles with a $500 billion dollar deficit. 9 million workers can’t find jobs; 43 million don’t have healthcare insurance and tens of millions of children sit in overcrowded classrooms with unqualified teachers.”
Fattah urges the president to fund what is truly important instead of his out of this world ideas. |
