Indiana Student Wins Shuster's Art Contest

25th Annual Art Contest Wraps Up, “When I Was Your Age” Selected As Winner

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster’s art contest has concluded and the winner is Vincent DeStefano of Indiana, Pennsylvania.  The contest consists of art work submitted by students at junior and senior high schools across the Ninth Congressional District.  Each year one winner is selected and their art is displayed in the U.S. Capitol for hundreds of thousands to view.

“This is the 25th annual art contest we’ve hosted, and every year I am impressed by the students’ unique talents, creativity and hard work,” said Shuster.  “There were dozens of entries, and Vincent should be proud of his accomplishment and artwork.  It will now be displayed in the halls of Congress.”

Vincent’s piece, When I Was Your Age, was selected by a panel of judges to be the artwork representing the Ninth Congressional District in the U.S. Capitol.  It will be hung in the Capitol after a presentation ceremony for Vincent and other winners across the country to attend.

In November, schools were sent a letter inviting them to participate.  Each school could submit one piece to represent their artistic talents.  The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Loretto showcased all of the entries from February 24th to March 26th.
