Rep. Pitts Continues to Work Toward a Responsible Financial Rescue Plan

Pitts urges Senate to pass responsible legislation

Washington- Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) continues to work toward a financial rescue plan that all parties can agree to, including a call with Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke today.  Rep. Pitts released the following statement as the Senate plans to vote on a modified financial rescue plan:

“I spoke with Chairman Bernanke today about how we can move forward in crafting a financial rescue plan that can be accepted by all parties.  During our call, I expressed the frustration of many of my constituents with the details of the bailout plan that was voted on in the House.  I expressed my desire to see a plan that does not put bureaucrats in charge of our economy, does not reward the people who caused this crisis, and does not threaten the free-market principles that have made America the world’s preeminent economy.  I was pleased to have the opportunity to have a dialogue with the Chairman as we continue to work through this process.”
