Rep. Pitts Tours Robotic Dairy Farm in Lancaster

Washington- Rep. Pitts today toured a robotically operated dairy farm owned by the Garber family of Lancaster. Garber farm’s milking operation is completely automated with the cows housed in a barn where four robotic milking machines operate.

While the robotic milking system itself is highly efficient, the Garber’s robotic farm ranks among the top in the world for robotic production. Approximately 13,000 robotic milking machines operate worldwide and the Garber operation is the first in Lancaster County.

Proprietor Josiah Garber spent a year and a half researching machines and toured existing facilities in Europe before selecting a design.

Rep. Pitts statement follows:

“This farm is an incredible operation that shows how technology is changing the dairy industry. I was very impressed by the level of automation and the efficiency of the process.

“The Garbers should be congratulated for their achievement in production and the hard work involved in setting up and running this modern dairy farm.”

Pictures of the tour are available upon request.
