Rep. Pitts Applauds End of Offshore Drilling Ban
Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration Ban Will End Sept. 30
Washington- Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) today applauded reports that House Democrats will give in to Republican pressure and allow the current prohibitions on energy leasing on most of the Outer Continental Shelf and on oil shale leasing on federal lands to expire on September 30.
Congressman Pitts’ statement follows:
“I am pleased that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle have finally seen the light. It simply does not make sense to deny access to vast domestic energy resources at a time when we are transferring $700 billion a year abroad just to meet our energy needs. This announcement puts us on a path toward greater energy security and it is great news for the American people who are sick of high prices at the pump.”
