Rep. Pitts Schedules Another Townhall Meeting in Lancaster

Washington- Rep. Joe Pitts (PA-16) will hold a townhall meeting Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is the third townhall meeting held in recent months and will again focus on the subject of healthcare reform.

House Democratic Leadership is expected to introduce a new version of H.R. 3200 in coming weeks. This new bill will be considered on the floor of the House of Representatives and may be significantly different from the legislation that was introduced earlier in the year.

Rep. Pitts statement follows:

“In August I was pleased to hold several in-person townhall meetings and a teletownhall call that together reached thousands of 16th District residents. Healthcare reform is the most pressing issue being dealt with in Congress right now and I want to ensure that people are informed about what is really in this bill and what initiatives I support that would make sure that every American can get health insurance.

"I believe we need healthcare reform that brings down the cost of insurance by creating real competition and consumer choice. But we also need fiscally responsible reform that is not a burden on future generations. I look forward to another excellent opportunity to hear about people’s concerns with the healthcare system and to update constituents on the amended legislation under consideration in the House.”
