Rep. Pitts to Hold Townhall Meeting Monday Night
Washington- Rep. Joe Pitts (PA-16) will hold a townhall meeting Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster from 6:30-8:30 p.m. While the focus will again be on the healthcare reform legislation currently moving through Congress, Rep. Pitts will listen to concerns about all issues impacting the 16th District.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic Leadership continue to put together a healthcare bill behind closed doors. This bill may be introduced and considered on the House floor as early as next week. In the Senate, the Finance Committee is moving forward on a bill that may be also be considered on the floor next week.
Rep. Pitts statement follows:
“Throughout this year, I’ve held many meetings to listen to constituents’ concerns about the current healthcare system and what we can do to fix it. With things moving fast on Capitol Hill, I want to ensure that 16th District residents are well-informed.
“We need reform that brings down the cost of insurance by creating real competition and consumer choice—not a government run plan that just adds to the liabilities that are bankrupting our nation. Monday night is going to be another excellent opportunity for me to talk about how we can broaden coverage without the government coming between patients and doctors.”
