Congressional Office Relocating
5th Floor Suite was home to Reps. Pitts, Walker and Eshleman
Lancaster- Congressman Joe Pitts (R, PA-16) will be relocating his Lancaster office from the 5th floor of the Lancaster County Courthouse to the new county office complex in the former Armstrong World Industries building. The present office, which will close today, has been the home of three Members of Congress dating back to the construction of the courthouse extension in the 1970s. The congressional office and all county offices in the present building not related to the Court of Common Pleas are being relocated to make room for a growing county judiciary.
“This is a bittersweet moment,” said Congressman Pitts. “There’s a sense of history in this office. Bob Walker and Ed Eshleman both worked here. We’ll lose some of that sense of continuity after we move.
“The court system needs the space, so we’ve been asked to move. My immediate concern is making sure my constituents know where the new office is.”
The new office will open for business on Friday. The address of the new office is:
150 North Queen Street
Suite 716 (7th Floor)
Lancaster, PA 17603
Phone number, fax number and web address remain the same:
Phone: (717) 393-0667
Fax: (717) 393-0924

The present location, at 50 north Duke Street, is in the Lancaster County Courthouse extension, which was completed in 1976. Congressman Ed Eshleman relocated the office from the Park City shopping center at that time, and remained in the courthouse until his retirement in January of 1977. Congressman Eshleman’s office had been located for most of his tenure in the old post office building on Chestnut Street, Lancaster. Mr. Eshleman (1920-1985), a native of Quarryville, served in Congress from 1967 to 1977.
Congressman Bob Walker, who had been Congressman Eshleman’s chief of staff, retained the courthouse office throughout his tenure, from 1977 to 1997. Mr. Walker, a resident of East Petersburg, is presently a partner at Wexler and Walker Public Policy Associates of Washington, DC.
Congressman Pitts has occupied the office since taking office in January, 1997. He has a second office in Unionville, Chester County.
