Rhode Island Bridge and Turnpike Authority

 
Amount Requested: $5 million
This project will assist RIBTA to move forward with steel repairs and protective coatings for the Newport/Pell Bridge, built in 1969, in order to maintain the structural integrity of the suspended span.  The project is one of the key initial phases in a long term restoration of the bridge’s structural integrity.  The project will benefit the millions of motorists who depend on the bridge being structurally sound so they may conduct their personal and business travel without interruption on a safe structure.
