| This funding will be used for the continued renovation of a former convent for the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence. The Institute works with community organizations, educational institutions and law enforcement agencies to help curb violence in the neighborhoods of Providence and to offer supportive services to high risk youth. Once renovations are completed, the building will house the Institute’s administrative offices and allow them to expand their programming within the community. Currently, the building is in disrepair and has become a danger to the residential neighborhood. If funded, the restoration of 265 Oxford Street will help further the Institute’s mission to reduce crime and violence in the area and will help establish a safe space for residents to participate in a variety of programs. |
