Rhode Island College School of Nursing |
| Amount Requested: $343,000 |
| Funding is requested for a major renovation and upgrade of the Rhode Island College School of Nursing clinical laboratory. This project will help improve nursing programmatic and educational initiatives, including the creation of a simulated learning environment to reproduce realistic patient care settings such as a basic hospital unit, acute/critical care area, and birthing center. RIC is the largest baccalaureate nursing program in the state. Over 90 percent of its graduates assume initial employment in RI hospitals and other health care institutions in the state. The nursing shortage nationally has been well documented. RIC graduates over 100 nurses annually and there are currently 44 students enrolled in the master’s program. This funding will allow RIC to increase the number of students learning through simulation and improve overall instruction quality. | |
