(Warwick, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today announced funding for several emergency agencies through the Department of Homeland Security’s Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP). “This competitively awarded funding allows local first responders to purchase equipment needed to enhance daily operations and improve their emergency response capabilities,” said Langevin, a member of the Homeland Security Committee. “Giving local agencies the ability to make improvements beyond their standard equipment only makes for safer communities.” • $21,274.10 for the Central Coventry Fire District to fund a PEAC Incident Command Kit CEDAP provides smaller communities and rural areas with technology and equipment, together with training and technical assistance, to help enhance first responder capabilities throughout the nation. CEDAP provides resources such as communications interoperability equipment, information sharing technology, chemical detection devices, sensors, personal protective equipment, and rescue tools and training in how to use the equipment, devices, and technology. -30- |
