Homeland Security Awards Equipment Grants

(Warwick, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today announced funding for six police departments in the Second Congressional District as well the University of Rhode Island’s Emergency Medical Services. The awards were distributed through the Department of Homeland Security’s Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance program (CEDAP).

“This funding allows local law enforcement to pursue equipment needs that may otherwise be unattainable through their annual budget allocations,” said Langevin, Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity and Science and Technology. “Enabling first responders to acquire the most up-to-date equipment offers peace of mind not only to the officers who use it, but the citizens they serve.”

  • Charlestown Police Department will receive $46, 375 for an advanced vehicle tracking system
