(Warwick, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today released the following statement regarding the Coast Guard Captain of the Port, Southeastern New England’s preliminary review of Weaver’s Cove Energy’s proposal to use smaller liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers:

“I applaud and support the Coast Guard’s findings that the ‘waterway may not be suitable’ for LNG tankers. The preliminary report they released today only confirms what many have suspected -- that the proposed location and route are not appropriate or safe for LNG deliveries. I will continue to ensure that our concerns and the concerns of my constituents are reflected in the public process.”
