| I am requesting funding for the TeraStack Pilot for Army Telemedicine [TPAT] in fiscal year 2010. The entity to receive this program is the Hie Electronics, Inc., located at 321 N Central Expy, Ste 260, McKinney, TX 75070. This project provides DoD health care system with a low cost alternative diagnostic image storage architecture that will save 5-7 times the cost of current technologies for medical imaging. Current legacy DINPAC systems are overflowing with data, needing additional upgrades that will be very costly if conventional type systems are used. Further, the demonstrated technology will use 10 times less energy and be completely portable for a wide array of DoD medical applications, both within and external to garrisoned medical operations. In addition to being a state of the art storage system, the platform will also host advanced processor capability which will run automated imaging algorithms enhancing medical care for our returning wounded soldiers. This storage is essential for advanced Traumatic Brain Imaging scans which take 5-8 times as much storage as do older types of techniques. |
