Congresswoman Bordallo Joins the American Red Cross in Sending Holiday Cards to Troops and Volunteers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 19, 2009 – Washington, D.C. –

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today joined the American Red Cross, other Members of Congress and Congressional staff in signing holiday cards for servicemembers, veterans and their families and Red Cross volunteers serving across the globe.  The Holiday Mail for Heroes event was held at in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill.  The American Red Cross in partnership with Pitney Bowes first started the Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign in December 2007.  The program is now in its third year, and in 2008, the American Red Cross received over 1.4 million holiday cards for servicemembers, veterans, and their families.

“The Holiday Mail for Our Heroes campaign sponsored by the American Red Cross gives us the opportunity to say ‘Thank you’ to our men and women in uniform, our veterans, their families, and the employees of the Red Cross who serve this country across the globe,” Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo said today. “A simple card reminds them of our appreciation during the holidays.  I commend the American Red Cross for continuing this program this year, and may God bless our servicemembers, our veterans, their families and all the Red Cross employees and volunteers serving our nation.”
