Brady Represents Houston Region Priorities within the Policy Arm of Congress
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) has been elected by his regional colleagues to service on the House Policy Committee in the 108th Congress, chaired by Congressman Chris Cox (R-CA).

"Kevin's outstanding commitment to core Republican values of promoting national security, fueling a strong economy with lower taxes and job creation, and protecting  Social Security make him an outstanding member for service on the House Policy Committee.  Kevin has displayed extraordinary leadership on tough issues this Congress as a Deputy Whip and member of the House Ways and Means Committee" stated Chairman Cox.

"I am pleased to serve in this leadership role, especially at a time when Congress is rightly focused on national security, preserving jobs and finding real-life solutions to Medicare, Social Security and wasteful government spending."said Brady.  "The House Policy Committee is working hard to keep Congress moving forward on important domestic issues, while the war with Iraq continues."

Chairman Cox also announced that he is appointing Brady to three important subcommittees within the House Policy Committee;  Tax Reform,  Redesigning Government and National Security.  These subcommittee assignments will give Brady hands on access and influence when it comes to these top legislative priorities for Americans.

The Policy Committee, established by the House GOP in 1949, is the Majority's principal forum for discussion of specific and forward-looking legislative initiatives.  The House Policy Committee offers members the opportunity to discuss issues before Congress with the nation's leading think tanks, scholars, and private-sector experts.

Brady, 48, is a member of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee which is charged with overseeing all tax relief measures including President Bush's economic stimulus plan, modernizing Medicare with prescription drug plan for seniors, reforming Social Security, reauthorizing the successful welfare reforms of five years ago, and creating free and fair trade laws with foreign countries.
