Misleading Mailing Draws Congressional Ban
Traditional Values Coalition Expelled from Conservative Pro-Life Group
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) applauded Values Action Team Chairman Representative Joseph Pitts' (PA-16) decision to remove the Traditional Values Coalition from the list of Values Action Team member organizations for at least one year.

"Expelling this organization from the Values Action Team was a necessary and appropriate response.  Organizations, like Traditional Values Coalition, who for cash will  knowingly mislead the public with fabricated facts and false claims have no place at the table for pro-family, pro-life policy development," said Mr. Brady.

The Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) launched an all out attack on pro-life member of Congress for supporting H.R. 2427, The Pharmacy Free Market Access Act.  The Traditional Values Coalition falsely claims in letters to its members that the prescription drug importation bill would mean greater access to abortifacient drugs.  This allegation is a completely false and is refuted by the National Right to Life Committee, Family Research Council, and the Congressional Research Service.  News stories have even surfaced suggesting that the TVC was paid off by the pharmaceutical lobby for their recent tyraid.

Chairman Pints' letter to the Traditional Values Coalition dated July 17th states that, "The spurious nature of the claims you have made in your attacks shows a lack of regard for the truth."  He further writes, "Your unwillingness to return calls or accept an invitation to discuss this matter betrays a lack of forthrightness or good will.  Furthermore this is not the first time you have conducted yourself in this fashion."

Congressman Brady has been a proud member of the Values Action Team since his first term in office.  The Values Action Team unites conservative members of Congress with pro-family coalitions by establishing legislative goals, identifying key tasks for Members and coalitions to perform, and executing action items that would lead to conservative victories.   VAT has successfully followed this model, achieving pro-life/pro-family victories since the 2nd session of the 105th Congress.
