Brady Named “Hero of the Taxpayer”

Americans for Tax Reform Give Brady 100% Score

Washington, D.C. - For the eighth year running, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), the nation’s leading taxpayer advocacy organization, awarded U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) with its annual Hero of the Taxpayer Award for showing a strong record of siding with taxpayers on important tax and economic issues in the 108th Congress.  The award was given to Congressman Brady during a ceremony in the U.S. Capitol.

“Tax relief puts more money in the pockets of working Americans and keeps our economy strong. I am honored to be recognized as a hero of the taxpayer, and I will continue to work to see taxpayer friendly legislation become law” said Brady who is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, the tax writing arm of Congress.

U.S. senators and representatives receive the award for scoring 85 and higher, out of a possible 100, on ATR’s annual Congressional scorecard, which measures a representative’s record on important taxpayer and economic issues.  Congressman Brady scored 100 on the scorecard

“During election season, every candidate is apt to allege that he or she will be a friend of taxpayers once in Washington," President of Americans for Tax Reform Grover Norquist said.  "But the proof is in their votes.  Constituents deserve to know who has worked for taxpayers' interests, and not the special interests.  Representative Brady is squarely on the side of taxpayers, and Americans for Tax Reform offers its thanks and congratulations."

Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) is a non-partisan coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose federal, state and local tax increases. In order to be considered for this award, members of Congress must consistently vote with and represent the interests of American taxpayers.
