Brady Urges Constituents to Check Website for Lost Refunds

IRS Announces $73 Million in Refund Checks Undelivered

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) is urging constituents who have not yet received their income tax refund check to log onto the IRS website www.irs.gov.  The IRS announced Monday that over 87,000 refund checks totaling more than $73 million could not be delivered to taxpayers across the country.

“It’s your money.  If you are still waiting on your refund check, you should call the IRS or log onto their website to make sure you are not missing out,” said Brady.

The IRS estimates that the average check is worth $873.

"Dozens of new tax changes Congress enacted last year will reap hundreds of dollars a year in tax savings for Texas families.  Giving Americans back more of their hard earned money not only helps families make ends meet, but it makes our businesses more competitive and our economy stronger," continued Brady who is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee considered the tax writing arm of Congress.

The IRS website features a special link dedicated to helping citizens track down their refund check.  Taxpayers should log onto www.irs.gov and then go to the "Where's My Refund" link.  Those without web access can call the IRS toll-free assistance line at 1-800-829-1040.
