Congressman Brady Hosts Veterans Rally

Demands Answers from VA on Vet Clinic Delay

Conroe, Texas - U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) will host a Veterans Rally with local elected officials and representatives from each of the major Montgomery County veterans organizations and thousands of local veterans this Saturday, January 14 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Conroe VFW located at 1303 West Semands in Conroe.

The rally is a kickoff for a local grassroots veterans campaign aimed at putting pressure on the Veterans Administration to provide answers for the endless delays in constructing the Veterans Administration Conroe Community Based Outpatient Clinic.

The Veterans Administration, through the CARES report release in February 2004 established a time table for constructing Outpatient Clinics to provide access to healthcare for veterans throughout the United States, including a clinic to be located in Conroe, Texas.

The Department of Veterans Affairs originally forecast the Conroe Clinic to open sometime in 2005. Despite Congress allocating full funding of the Veterans Administration's 2005 budget request plus an additional $1.2 billion, the Veterans Administration has failed to meet the timeline goals of the CARES plan.

This rally will organize thousands of the Montgomery County Veterans and turn their attention toward demanding answers for the delays from the Veterans Administration. An estimated 8,700 veterans living in Montgomery, Grimes, Walker, and Harris counties would be served by an outpatient clinic in Conroe according to VA estimates.

WHAT: Veterans Rally with Congressman Kevin Brady, Montgomery County Judge Barb Sadler, Rep. Ruben Hope (R-Conroe), Rep. Rob Eissler (R-The Woodlands), Sen. Tommy Williams (R-The Woodlands).

WHEN: Saturday, January 14 at 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Conroe VFW, 1303 West Semands, Conroe, Texas
