Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) released the following statement in response to today's verdict by an Iraqi tribunal that found Saddam Hussein guilty of crimes against humanity, sentencing him to death by hanging.
"Saddam Hussein is a terrorist who deserves to pay for his crimes against humanity. Iraqi families tell us between 300,000 and one million of their loved ones lie buried in mass graves due to Hussein's reign of terror. He paid for Palestinian suicide bombers to kill innocent Israeli's going about their day. He tortured, executed and gassed to death those who dared question his tactics. Through the brave actions of our troops and the leadership of President Bush, Saddam Hussein was brought to justice; their continued dedication and sacrifices are ensuring the formation of a free and democratic Iraq," said Congressman Brady.
