Brady Reminds Seniors that Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Sign-ups End May 15

75% of Eighth District Seniors Now Have Drug Coverage

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) today encouraged seniors to review the options available to them under the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit before the May 15 deadline.

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, seniors are saving about half on their prescription drug charges under the new Drug Benefit.  Low income seniors have virtually all of their expenses covered by extra assistance programs that subsidize premiums, drug costs, and deductibles.

"Since January, seniors throughout the country and the Eighth District have been able to sign up for the new Medicare prescription drug benefit passed by Congress at the end of 2003. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, more than 75% of Eighth District seniors now have prescription drug coverage.

"For seniors still debating their options, my office wants to help," said Brady who has conducted numerous Medicare Prescription Drug Workshops throughout the district.  Seniors can reach Congressman Brady's office toll free at 1-877-441-5700.
