Tyler County Slated to Receive $5.7 Million FEMA Grant

FEMA Disaster Reimbursements Near $24 Million for Tyler County since Hurricane Rita

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Brady announced the approval of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) public assistance grant totaling $5.7 million to reimburse Tyler County for debris removal costs associated with Hurricane Rita.

"Today's announcement is good news for Tyler County.  I am glad to see that FEMA has stepped up to the plate and has reimbursed Tyler County for the hard work the county has accomplished," said Brady.

The reimbursement is for contract costs incurred in collection, reduction and disposal of debris on public property. The grants awarded today represent the federal match of 75% for the projects' costs.

Previously $17.9 million in reimbursements have been approved to Tyler County for similar disaster related costs.  Today's announcement pushes the total amount awarded to Tyler County by FEMA for public assistance grants to $23.6 million.

The State of Texas administers FEMA's Public Assistance program under which eligible and documented disaster-related costs are reimbursed to state and local government agencies.
