Brady’s Statement on DEA’s Issuance of Search Warrants in Orange County
Federal and Local Authorities Cracking Down on "Pill Mills"
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) released the following statement after being informed by the DEA and other officials that 3 federal search warrants (2 clinics and 1 residence) and 4 inspection warrants (pharmacies) were conducted as part of a long term investigation into mismanaged pain management facilities:
"Local and federal authorities are working hand in hand to dismantle sham "pain management clinics."I am sure that today's warrants are the first of many that authorities will continue to execute as these types of investigations continue. The community has had enough and the justice system will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law predatory pill peddlers in Orange and throughout SE Texas."
Today's warrant operation follows just two days after Congressman Brady spearheaded a roundtable meeting in Orange on Monday morning with Orange County Sheriff Mike White, the DEA, U.S. Attorney’s office, Texas Medical Board, Texas State Board of Pharmacy and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The group will continue to work together to coordinate efforts to eliminate the blight and danger these pill mills pose to our communities.
