Larraine McGee of Huntsville, TX, whose son, Staff Sgt. Christopher Everett, 23, died in Iraq by electrocution while using a power washer that had been improperly grounded, testified at a Senate hearing on electrocution deaths of American soldiers in Iraq. This hearing was called to take a closer look at the failure to correct faulty electrical work on military bases.
U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady this week called upon the Pentagon to expedite all requests for information concerning this matter and asked for an accounting of all measures that have been taken to inspect and correct poorly grounded equipment in military facilities in Iraq and Afghanistan. While introducing Mrs. McGee at the Senate hearing, Brady stated, “To lose one American soldier due to faulty grounding is unacceptable. To lose many more is simply unforgivable.”
