Washington, D.C. - This week marks the start of open enrollment season Medicare Prescription Drug Plan subscribers. Through December 31st, all seniors who currently enrolled in a Medicare prescription drug plan can choose to try a new prescription drug plan. Because every senior’s medical needs are unique, the Medicare Prescription Drug Program offers a variety of plans.
Since health care needs can change from year to year, seniors have this annual opportunity to review their individual needs and pick the plan that works best for them. Seniors whose drug costs have increased or whose plan no longer includes their specific drug needs can use this Open Enrollment period to freely switch to a plan with different benefits.
In Texas alone, there are currently 53 different prescription drug plans with monthly premiums ranging from $13.70 to $97.10. Seniors wishing to review their current plan or explore new options can go to www.Medicare.gov, or call 1-800-MEDICARE to compare plans and find the best plan to match their individual lifestyle.
