CONGRESSMAN BRADY APPLAUDS FDA COMMISSIONER FOR HIS SERVICE
At the End of Bush Era Dr. Andrew C. von Eschenbach Resigns His Post as Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) made the following statement on the resignation of FDA Commissioner, Dr. Andrew C. von Eschenbach:

"Dr. von Eschenbach led the FDA with a visionary hand through challenging years when technology, medical breakthroughs and the world’s food supply were undergoing unprecedented change.

"He is, at heart, a public servant and one of the most influential health care talents of our times. I join many others in applauding him for his critical service to our nation and wishing him well in his future endeavors."

For the past three years, Dr. von Eschenbach led the charge to strengthen the mission of Food and Drug Administration, drawing on his previous experience as the Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health, Chairman of the Department of Urologic Oncology, and Executive Vice President and Chief Academic at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
