Brady Supports Allowing Small Businesses to Communicate with Federal Government ElectronicallyWashington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Kevin Brady voted in support of The Paperwork Elimination Act of 1999. H.R. 439 passed the U.S. House of Representatives today. "Paperwork elimination legislation that actually eliminates paperwork will help our small businesses greatly," said Brady. H.R. 439, The Paperwork Elimination Act is designed to minimize the federal paperwork demands upon small business, by requiring the federal government to communicate electronically with those people who choose electronic submission. "The paperwork burden facing our nation's small businesses is outrageous and unfairly penalizes small business. For tax and payroll paperwork alone, small businesses pay almost double what bigger businesses pay," said Brady. In 1992, the federal paperwork responsibility was roughly 6.5 billion hours - equal to three million people working full time to simply comply with federal information requests and costing Americans more than $200 billion. ### Back Home / About Kevin Brady / 8th District Tour / Press Releases / Constituent Services / Sunset Legislation |
