PRESS RELEASE
Frank and Colleagues Express Support for the Creation of UMass Dartmouth Law School
WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Barney Frank, Senator John Kerry and Congressman James McGovern today sent a letter to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, expressing their strong support for the creation of a law school within the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
The creation of the law school would be made possible by a donation of assets by the Southern New England School of Law (SNESL), which would become a central part of the new school at UMass Dartmouth. The authors praised SNESL for its history of giving “some of the best and brightest students who could not afford private law school the ability to reach their full potential.”
Frank, McGovern and Kerry also ask for “timely consideration of this proposal so that the state’s first public law school class can be enrolled in September, 2010.”
