Frank Applauds EDA Grant to New Bedford Business Park
July 7, 2009

Congressman Barney Frank applauded today’s announcement by President Barack Obama and U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke to award a $1 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to the Greater New Bedford Industrial Foundation and the city of New Bedford. The EDA grant will be added to a $1 million earmark secured by Congressman Frank through the SAFETEA-LU Technical Corrections Act of 2008 that will extend the New Bedford Business Park access road and make available a large saleable 45 acre lot that will create hundreds of jobs and generate significant private investment.

“I was pleased to work with Tom Davis, Executive Director of the Greater New Bedford Industrial Foundation, and Mayor Scott Lang in securing the funds necessary for this important expansion project at the New Bedford Business Park,” said Frank. “The New Bedford Business Park has provided the city of New Bedford with significant economic and business development and I will continue to support these vital public-private partnerships as we navigate through these difficult economic conditions.”
