Flint: Mail to Washington still slow due to security While concerns over mail safety and delivery have stopped in most of the country, the nation's Capitol remains backlogged.
U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee's office asked this week for continued patience from constituents who have tried to contact him via mail.
Mail is beginning to trickle in to the office after being scanned and irradiated, press secretary Peter Karafotas said. But, only about 20 pieces of mail are being received compared to the 300 pieces typically received before mail to Capitol Hill was shut down Oct. 15 because of anthrax fears.
The letters being received are postmarked from October and November, Karafotas said.
While mail problems continue, the best way to reach the congressman's office remains e-mail, he said. The address is DKildee@mail.house.gov. It can also be sent through the congressman's Web site at www.house.gov/kildee/, where updates on the mail policy will also be posted.
Constituents without access to the Internet can contact Kildee through his Flint office at (810) 239-1437 or in Washington D.C. at (202) 225-3611.
