U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee continued his annual tradition of returning unused funding to the government.
Kildee, D-Flint, returned $58,718.12 in funds for his congressional office to the U.S. Treasury, according to a news release from his office. With Kildee's 2004 savings, the congressman has saved more than $1.3 million.
"It has always been a priority to me that taxpayers' money be spent carefully and prudently," Kildee said in the news release.
Kildee's 2004 savings comes out of his office expenses budget, including dollars intended for travel and office equipment.
