Flint: HUD-guaranteed loans available
A $6-million business loan program will be created in Flint through a Housing and Urban Development guarantee program announced earlier this month.
The dollars will be used to finance economic development and create jobs in Flint's Enterprise Community, a 10-square-mile area of Flint and Mt. Morris Township that is eligible for special tax breaks.
U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, had lobbied for the loan guarantee.
"I am pleased that I was able to expedite the process of securing these funds for the city of Flint," Kildee said in a prepared statement. "This loan guarantee will provide vital funding to stimulate our local economy and increase employment opportunities."
Private businesses, for-profit developers, non-profits and hotel developers within the enterprise community are eligible to apply for the loan.
