The American Humane Association this month honored U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, for his commitment to children's issues and animal welfare. Kildee was one of three members of Congress from Michigan to receive the Ultimate Humane Award. The association evaluated voting records of every member of congress to determine which lawmakers deserved the award.
"It is a tremendous honor to receive this commendation from the American Humane Association," Kildee said. "My voting record on these issues reflects my strong commitment to protecting children and animals from abuse, neglect and cruelty."
The Ultimate Award was reserved for legislators who supported both causes. Separate awards were given for those who supported only animal or only children's legislation.
