| Another $906,000 is coming to Genesee County to help pay for continued construction of a Kearsley Creek sewer project.
It adds to $2 million already secured for the North-East Relief Sewer/Kearsley Creek Interceptor project.
The ultimate goal of the project is to build 42 miles of sanitary sewer pipe and two pump stations.
"We must commit resources for the proper waste management to ensure the health and safety of our residents," said U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint, who announced the federal funding.
The wastewater system now operating in Genesee County was built in 1964 and is over capacity.
